USING THE REQUEST ACCESS MODULE FOR RESTRICTED BRANDS
Introduction
The Request Access Module supports purchase approval for restricted brands such as skinbetter science®. It allows you to easily approve your patients for online purchasing of restricted brands—either as individuals or in bulk—and notifies them of this access approval via email. Approved purchasers need only be logged into a store account in order to purchase restricted products.
This module is approved by skinbetter science® for use on your DermPRO® store. You may use this module to restrict other brands you sell on your store. Please contact DermPRO Support if you would like to enable this feature for other brands.
Storefront
On the storefront, users will see the REQUEST ACCESS button for restricted products on the category pages and product pages.
Users browsing the store as a guest will see this message upon clicking the Request Access button:
Users browsing the store as a logged-in account holder will see this message upon clicking the Request Access button:
If a user attempts to request access again while their previous request is still pending, the user will see this message upon clicking the Request Access button:
If you restrict access for a user from the admin panel, the user will see this message upon clicking the Request Access button (with contact information for your store):
And finally, if you grant access to a user from the admin panel, the user will see Request Access buttons if they are not logged in. Once the user logs into their store account, they will see Add to Cart buttons.
Email Notifications
When a user requests access, the store admins will receive an email notification. We have configured this notification to be sent to the same email(s) that is configured to be copied on Sales emails from the store.
Email subject is: Action Required: Someone has requested restricted products access
Here is an example contents of the Admin Notification of Access Request email:
In the next section, we explain how to approve customers for access. After you grant a user’s access, the user will automatically receive an email notification. The notification will contain the following message:
Hello [Customer Name].
You have been granted access to purchase restricted products. Now you can go to our store and continue purchasing.
BEST PRACTICE: Approve customers as soon as possible after you have received notification of access request. Proactively check the list often to ensure customers are not waiting for approval.
Admin Panel
So, now that you understand how this works in your store, let's review the back-end functionality where you can Grant or Restrict a customer’s access to restricted brands. You now have access to approve access requests from Shop Manager > Customers > Request Access List.
The Request Access list includes all store account holders and their access status.
If you want to approve a specific customer from whom you've received a Request Access Notification, first locate the customer in this list. Just like for other lists in Shop Manager, you can sort this list by clicking on a column heading, search using the Search field, or filter by clicking on the Filter By button. Once you’ve located the person, to Approve or Restrict access for an individual, in the "Manage Access" column select the desired action—Grant access or Restrict access.
Note that this list includes ALL store account holders, and you can approve any customer at any time, regardless of whether you have received a request to access.
BEST PRACTICE: Approve all account holders proactively. Proactively review the Request Access List and and use the bulk approval function to approve all customers.
Bulk Approval
You can grant access to more than one customer at a time. To grant access to multiple customers at one time, select multiple checkboxes next to the customer names, or select the checkbox at the top of the column to select all customers. Then click the Bulk Edit button.
From the Bulk Edit screen, select Grant access from the Manage Access pull-down box at the top of the list (or Restrict if you want to restrict all selected customers). Then click the Save All & Go Back button.
